EP 04 - Reviving Your Sex Life After Childbirth

How physical changes, mental health, self-perception affect our libido and coming back to a place of intimacy with our partners after childbirth.

Sex after childbirth can be an uphill battle. For most women, the 6 week healing period recommended by doctors doesn’t quite cut it. Healing is not just a physical state, but also an emotional, mental, and sometimes spiritual state.

Juggling this new life that is dependent on you, trying to get enough nourishment and sleep to survive, dealing with body changes, acknowledging your partner, and still doing all the day-to-day (plus mothering other kids, if you have them) if you haven’t got any help, it’s no wonder that sex is on the back burner and just seen as another ‘chore’ to add to the list.

I love how Mum of three children and Sex Therapist, Iniabasi Leye makes the case for sex. She covers all bases, scientific(how the brain works and how sex affects that), physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental. She gave practical tools and strategies on how to reconnect with your partner after childbirth, how to support each other through varying seasons, and how to invite God into your sex life.

“Sex is not necessarily intimacy but intimacy is the foundation for sex.” - Iniabasi Leye

Enjoy the conversation.
